The Davide Astori transfer saga is finally over after Cagliari confirmed that defender will go to Roma on loan, with the option to buy.
The central defender has been heavily linked with a move away from theIsolani all summer, with Lazio thought to be in pole.
However, just a few days ago it emerged that the Giallorossi were set to sneak in and land the 27-year-old.
Coach Rudi Garcia admitted earlier this morning that the club were in the market for a new defender, and this evening Cagliari have confirmed that Astori will go to the capital.
In a statement on their official website, the Sardinian side said: “The club can confirm that it has sold Davide Astori to AS Roma on a one-year loan with the right to buy.
“Cagliari would like to thank Astori for his professionalism, devotion and gratitude that he has shown right until the end.”
Roma will pay an initial €2m for the loan, and will have to splash out €5m to get Astori outright.
